Decisions from universities and colleges who use UKPASS

Universities and colleges can take as long as they need to consider your application. We do not impose any deadlines for decision-making. If you have had your welcome letter for several weeks and you have not heard from the university or college, it would be advisable to contact them to find out the current position.

Whenever a university or college notifies us that it has made a decision, we send you an email asking you to look at the change to your Application Summary.

Universities and colleges can make the following types of decision for your application.

  • Unconditional offer
  • The university or college is offering you a place and they are satisfied that you have already met all the entry requirements for your programme. If you accept an unconditional offer, the university or college must provide a place.postgraduate students

  • Conditional offer
  • The university or college is offering you a place, but you must meet certain conditions before you can start the programme. If the university or college gave us the conditions when they made their offer, you will be able to see these conditions on your Application Summary. If you cannot see the offer conditions on your Application Summary, you must contact the university or college for this information.

When you have met all the conditions of your offer, you must provide the university or college with evidence, such as notification of your exam results. They will then confirm your place by changing the status of your application to 'Unconditional Offer Accepted'. We send you an email asking you to look at the change to your offer on your Application Summary.

If you accept a conditional offer and you meet all the conditions of this offer, the university or college must provide a place.

  • Unsuccessful
  • The university or college is unable to offer you a place. If the university or college wishes to, they can provide the reasons for your lack of success when they record the decision; however, they do not have to. If you want to know why you were unsuccessful, and the reasons have not been given with the decision, you should contact the university or college direct.

  • Interview
  • The university or college would like to invite you to attend an interview before making their decision. Details of the interview arrangements and/or dates can be provided by institutions when recording the decision and will be available to read in the Application Summary. Alternatively the university or college may contact you direct with this information. If you have any questions about attendance for an interview you should contact the university or college direct.

  • Enrolled decision
  • You have accepted the university's or college's offer of a place and have met their conditions (if any).
